Although Pelican makes a really nice compact flash case, I wanted to see if there was anything else out there and I stumbled upon Plaber/HRPC's sexy Compact Flash case. It is thicker in size than the Pelican so the Pelican has an edge in terms of size, however, I really like the RED colored accents from the HRPC case. Check it out HERE.

REDmodz has been quiet but Red Camera Accessories development has not..so here I am with a roundup of the latest gear and release dates. First off, I am super excited about the 16gb RED CF announcement that Jim Jannard posted on June 17th. "Expect these cards to be available in about 4 weeks. Price will be $550 ea." So we are looking at around end of July for these bad boys. Some may feel 550.00 is alot, but lets not forget how much 16gb P2 CARD currently run for. You can put down for the RED 16gb cards here.

Next up we have Element Technica. They have alot of new gear just around the cornor but the thing I have been dying for is their handheld solution, which I first had the privilege to try out back in February. Word on the street is that it is coming very soon. You can expect that I'll post a full review when it lands. Something else that will interest alot of Red Owners is ETs new Red Drive mount. The design looks very efficient and light. Anyone notice the RED colored breakout box behind it? Very interesting indeed. If you haven't seen ET's latest website.. be sure to drop by. elementtechnica.com
Are any of you looking for a nice follow focus unit? Or better yet, a wireless follow focus for a price that is lower than most follow focus units? The Viewfactor Impero and Inclino digital follow focus, wired and wireless, is currently scheduled to land August 13th. Viewfactor uploaded this nifty diagram that illustrates the different configurations. Order yours HERE.
Handheld solution. Check. Follow Focus. Check. What else is there...mmm mattebox! The Redrock Mattebox was announced two NABs ago and is now finally coming. A select few have received pre-production units but have not shipped in large quantities yet. Here are their final shipping dates: Resuming microMatteBox shipments-July 14; golden ticket holder orders-July 16; reservation holder orders-July 21; non-reservation holder orders-July 28. My fellow Canadian-speedo-loving friend, Finner, posted up a nice run through of the mattebox from his NAB report.
Need a 15mm video to 15mm studio adapter? or 19mm to 15 video? or 19mm to 15mm studio? This universal adaptor from Zacuto called the "JEEP" appears to be the ticket to full rod compatibility. More info HERE. DIY love. Hopefully the Jeep doesn't stop Jeff Kilgroe (red owner #1110) from working on a solution to go from 19mm to 15mm offset. He said he would have a prototype coming July 11th. Check this "REDuseR" thread for more info
DIY-LCD Hood. Matthew Rogers, Macvile Productions, made a cool DIY solution for an lcd hood. Check it out. |

I have been on location wrapping up camera work for Vietnam's first "shot on RED" Feature Film project "14 days". Special thanks goes to Action Products and Element Technica for pulling through on some great accessories that have been crucial to the efficiency of my work on this shoot. The Actioncam flies like a dream and whats even more brilliant is the direct Element Technica dovetail compatibility. Switching from tripod to Actioncam is now so much easier and quicker.
