I love the Redrock Mattebox. I used it on three feature films so far and it is a good workhouse. One thing, however, I am not very fond of are the rubber donuts. There is a solution, although the solution costs a bit more than the Redrock Mattebox itself, which is to use the Arri bellows from the MB-20. Not only does this add a more user friendly bellows but it also adds 138mm filter support. I haven't done this but fellow Reduser, Damien Molineaux, kindly posted pics of his setup.

Quick update over at reduser from the maker of the Canon EOS Smart Mount: "quick update for everyone, we are in the process of switching to fully machined parts for our mount in the next 2 weeks. We spent the last 3 days setting up our own cnc mills and anodizing line to make this cost effective. All "smart" mount's will have machined aluminum mounts, there will also be "upgrades" available for dumb mounts if desired for a small price. I'll update on the progress as soon as we get a new mount over to RED hopefully within the next week. (this is our best "guestimate" at the time, it could change) but that's what we're up to right now. -Andy" Click here to see video |
